One way to make weekday mornings less chaotic is to plan ahead. For years, I’ve used smoothies as a quick, healthy breakfast, but it wasn’t until I saw this commercial smoothie lunch that I realized I could freeze them just like I froze purees for my baby!
Whenever I make a morning smoothie, there’s always quite a bit left over, so simply pouring them into reusable pouches isn’t any extra work. When we have a very chaotic morning, I’m so grateful that I can throw one of these in a lunch, or defrost one in the freezer overnight in anticipation of an early morning.
While I generally don’t use a recipe for my smoothies, there are lots of great ones to get you started. Here are some good resources:
- This Cherry Berry Vanilla Shake is a favorite fruit and yogurt style smoothie. We use all different kinds of seasonal fruits.
- This basic Green Smoothie recipe is like rocket fuel! It will make you feel wonderful.
- This blog is completely dedicated to healthful and delicious smoothies that can serve as a meal!
